Step 1. Heat and oil pan
Place the pan over medium-high heat. Add non-stick spray, olive oil or butter to the pan to prevent the bread from sticking…

Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk.
Note: If you want to go lighter, you can use just egg whites instead. You can also use egg white substitute.

Step 3. Whisk
Add the milk, vanilla extract, nutmeg and cinnamon and beat the mixture with a fork or whisk.
Step 4. Dip the bread slices
Coat a slice of bread with the mixture on both sides. Dip the bread into the egg mixture until each side of the French toast is soaked and well coated.
Step 5. Toast each slice of bread
Place each slice on the pan and cook the toast until golden on both sides. (About 45 seconds per side.)
Sprinkle sugar over the bread while it is still in the pan before flipping. This will create a crunchy layer of caramelized sugar – a French toast signature.
Step 6. Serve and enjoy your homemade french toast!
Place French toast on a plate, then serve with maple syrup or topped with berries or banana slices. You can also sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
Enjoy them with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee for a filling and satisfying breakfast. Enjoy!
