Easy Peanut Butter Fudge – A Beautiful Mess

Fudge is probably one of the easiest homemade desserts to make, and peanut butter fudge is perfect for the upcoming season. My uncle used to make candy at my grandmother’s house when we would all gather for the holidays when I was a kid. It was delicious! I also think peanut butter candy makes a great gift for neighbors or coworkers anytime, but especially around the holiday season.

If you like fudge or peanut butter bar filling, you’ll probably love this recipe. Plus, it’s super easy to make with only four ingredients.

  • – Butter – I use unsalted
  • Peanut butter – creamy
  • Vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar – also called confectioners’ sugar

I usually sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top as well, but that’s optional.

In a large bowl, melt the butter and peanut butter together, stirring until well combined. Once the mixture boils, remove it from the heat.

Add vanilla preparation. Be careful, when you add the extract to a hot liquid, it can boil and spit out on you. Then add the powdered sugar until a thick dough forms.

Cover an 8×8 pan with parchment paper. Press candy into an even layer into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with sea salt if using. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. Slice and serve!

  • I like my fudge to be firm enough that it holds its shape well when cut, but still chewy when you bite into it. If you like your fudge on the soft side, you can reduce the powdered sugar to 4 cups.
  • This homemade fudge will take about an hour to put in the fridge, but I often make it the night before and leave it in the fridge overnight before slicing.
  • Although the peanut butter candy does not need to be refrigerated for storage, it will keep longer this way. Also keep in mind that the butter can melt if the dessert becomes too warm.
