I recently made chocolate bark for the first time, and I was instantly hooked! It’s so delicious, and so easy to make. They also look amazing on your dessert trays. Here’s my favorite chocolate bark recipe.
This recipe uses common, inexpensive ingredients you can find at any grocery store.
- 12 ounce bag of milk or dark chocolate chips (I use Nestle or Ghirardelli)
- Toppings: Ground candy canes, candied ginger, dried fruits such as pineapple, cranberries or apricots, and nuts and seeds such as cashews, peanuts and walnuts.
Chocolate bark recipe
Remember, you can add any toppings you want to your chocolate bark. In this recipe, I used a combination of cashews, dried cranberries, dried pineapple, and dried apricots.
Cut the toppings and prepare the pan
Take a sheet of parchment paper, then place a clean baking tray in it. You’ll also need to cut the toppings into small pieces so you can drizzle them over the melted chocolate.
Melt the chocolate chips
Pour a bag of chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring with a spatula in between, until the chocolate is completely melted.
Spread chocolate on a parchment-lined sheet
Spread the melted chocolate in a square/rectangle shape on the parchment paper. The chocolate should be about 1/4 inch or so thick.
Distribute the melted chocolate in a square or rectangle shape on the parchment paper. Make it about 1/4 inch thick.
Sprinkle on toppings
Get the cut layer and drizzle it evenly over the melted chocolate. I like to use the back of a wooden spoon to gently press it until it’s nice and incorporated into the chocolate.
Let the chocolate harden
Allow the chocolate to set for at least 3 hours at room temperature.
Peel off the parchment and break it into fragments
After the chocolate has set, carefully peel it from the parchment paper and break it into rough pieces. It’s okay if some layer falls off, it usually does. Store chocolate bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Let it come to room temperature before serving. Place it in a beautiful serving dish!
Chocolate bark has a wonderful scent and festive look. The combination of sweet and salty toppings, such as sweetened dried fruit and salted nuts, creates a delightful flavor.
I can only hear Ina Garten now; “How wonderful?”
You can’t go wrong with this chocolate bark recipe! I encourage you to try.
