These DIY bath salts are so easy to make, you might find yourself making an extra batch or two to keep on hand throughout the year. When you have guests coming, it would be good to keep a small jar of it ready. As a thoughtful welcome after a long travel day.

Here’s how to make your own DIY bath scrub for guests.

Ingredients for DIY Bath Salts

Bath Salt Recipe (Ingredients)

  • 1 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1 cup thick Himalayan sea salt Salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • essential oils (any scent you like)
  • glass vials (Linked to the ones I used)
  • bowl for mixing
  • spoon

How many containers will this recipe fill?

This recipe (which calls for a total of 2 cups of salt) will fill 12 glass jars like mine. If you choose a different size vial or container – Many options can be found hereThe number of containers this recipe fills will change.

Vials typically list volume capacity in mL. And each cup of bath salts is approximately 236 mL. So you can figure out how many containers or vials you will need from there.

How to Make Bath Salt Party Favors

1. Mix everything.

Start with the Himalayan Sea SaltEpsom Saltand baking soda in a bowl. I like to use a much larger bowl than necessary to avoid spillage.

2. Add essential oils.

Next, add several drops of your favorite essential oils until you reach the desired scent. Stir with a spoon.

3. Add to containers.

Pour the mixture into glass bottles until they are full. For this you may need to use a funnel, which can be as simple as one you make out of paper.

4. Plug with a cork.

Add a cork to each vial to plug it. Mine came with cork stoppers.

5. Add gift tags.

Then tie a small gift tag to each vial with string. I made these gift tags from scrap paper, using the same technique as my watercolor DIY gift tags.
