Chick-fil-A Sauce – A Beautiful Mess

We make air fryer chicken (store bought or homemade) at home with our toddler quite often. While I do eat a meal in the car when we’re on a road trip or at the airport, it’s not a big part of our regular lives. So, it’s a good idea to know how to make your own Chick-fil-A sauce.

This Chick-fil-A sauce recipe is made with just four simple ingredients. These are the things that are usually in your refrigerator most of the time. The recipe I’m sharing below, to me, tastes exactly like the restaurant version. But when you make it yourself, you can customize it according to your preferences.

Related: I love this sauce recipe on everything from baked chicken and air fryer wings (as a dipping sauce) to air fryer fries. They’re great for store-bought French fries, like waffle fries too!

ingredients

  • Mayonnaise – I like real mayonnaise but Miracle Whip is good too
  • Mustard – standard yellow mustard
  • BBQ sauce – any store brand you like will work
  • honey

I will note that if you want it to taste like copycat Chick-fil-A sauce, you’ll need to use the basic (regular) ingredient options. If you use hot BBQ sauce, for example, it won’t taste like the restaurant version.

directione

In a small to medium sized mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Stir the ingredients well until they combine and the sauce turns orange in color.

The mentioned ingredients are enough to prepare about a third of a cup of sauce. Feel free to double or triple this recipe if you’d like a larger quantity.

Tips and alternatives

  • If you want to add a little heat, use hot BBQ sauce or add a quarter teaspoon or more of cayenne pepper.
  • If you want to make a vegan version of this, you can substitute the vegan mayonnaise (or a similar vegan mayonnaise option) and the honey for the maple syrup or agave.
  • Sometimes I’ll use Dijon mustard instead of yellow mustard because I like the slightly spicy flavor.
