Air Fryer Meatballs – A Beautiful Mess

I am obsessed with my air fryer and have already shared several air fryer recipes on this site. But I’m not done because these air fryer meatballs are so delicious and easy and are the perfect complement to a pasta and red sauce bowl.

This air fryer meatball recipe is very simple. These will go well with any sauce or gravy you wish to serve them with. But, if you want something a little more flavorful, try the meatball filling. I also love that when you’re cooking with the air fryer, you can see all the liquid fat that drains off during cooking (this will be at the bottom of the air fryer, below the grate). So, this is a lighter option to cook something delicious that we hope everyone in your family will love.

ingredients

  • Ground beef, pork, or a combination – see notes
  • Italian bread crumbs
  • Milk
  • an egg
  • garlic
  • Parmesan cheese – the powdered kind is great for this recipe
  • Salt and Pepper

If you want to add a little more spice to the mix, you totally can! Some things you can try are onion powder, cayenne pepper, chili powder, or even Italian seasoning.

directione

Mince the garlic.

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix together to form meatball dough. Use your (clean) hands to form 16 balls, about the same size.

Spray your air fryer with a little non-stick spray. Then put the meatballs inside.

Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 12 minutes. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F, but you can also open one to make sure it’s no longer pink inside (a little pink is OK, but it shouldn’t be raw).

Serve warm with pasta, sauce, gravy, mashed potatoes or whatever else your heart desires.

Tips and feedback

  • If you like, you can add parchment paper to the air fryer. If you do, in this recipe I recommend adding some slits or holes to the middle so the excess fat can drain to the bottom (under the grate).
  • The outside of the meatballs will be almost crispy, as the air fryer is a great tool for air frying. 🙂 So, these can also be an excellent appetizer. But be careful not to overcook it or it may become dry.
  • I like to use a ground beef mixture for this recipe. I often use the “Boston Burger” ground beef, which is 60% beef and 40% pork and is very common at the grocery store I frequent. But any ground meat will work in this recipe! Just keep in mind that if you use lean ground meat (chicken or turkey), the nutritional facts will differ from those in my recipe card below.
